Why do you need a personal injury* solicitor?
In general the reason you engage the services of a solicitor is to represent your best interests. Consulting with an experienced personal injury claims* solicitor before accepting any settlement will make sure you receive a fair offer.
In Ireland, virtually all personal injury claims* must go before one of two boards before any action may be taken in court. The Injuries Board (formerly known as PIAB) was set up by the Government to mediate claims between you and the party who caused your injury. The Motor Insurers Bureau of Ireland (MIBI), was established to compensate victims of road traffic accidents caused by uninsured and unidentified vehicles.
There are a number of common pitfalls in the personal injury claim process that may delay or even jeopardize your claim. It is in your best interests to proceed with an experienced solicitor when filing and dealing with either the Injuries Board or the MIBI.
* In contentious business, a solicitor may not calculate fees or other charges as a percentage or proportion of any award or settlement.
